Comeback Hopes For New Mission Theater - WSJ.com

The New Mission theater, a landmark San Francisco movie palace that shut its doors in 1993 amid a trend toward multiplexes, may get a new lease on life as a five-screen cinema.

Tim League, founder and chief executive of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema of Austin, Texas, says he has agreed to terms in a deal to buy and restore the New Mission theater from Mission District businessman Gus Murad, pending the receipt of city approvals for the at least $10 million project.
