Valentine's Day Crayon and Wax Paper Hearts Craft | Family Buzz

waxpaperheartsmobileEvery February we try to come up with a new Valentine? Day crafts to make. Last year we made the Valentine?s Construction Paper Flower craft and the year before that we made a Paper Heart Name craft.

This year I wanted to get away from construction paper and try something a bit different but still easy so we used wax paper and crayons. We ended up making wax paper hearts. Then we hung the hearts as a mobile.

Craft Supplies You Will Need To Make Wax Paper Hearts:

wax paper

old crayons

paper bag

vegetable peeler, shredder, or pencil sharperner

hole punch

string/yarn

iron

How To Make Crayon Wax Paper Hearts:

Kids ages 8 and under need a lot of assistance with this craft. An adult parent should do all of the ironing (especially steps 4 & 5).

Step 1: Lay out your wax paper. Get a big enough piece so that you can fold it over.

Step 2: Shave various colored crayons onto the wax paper.

Step 3: Fold wax paper.

Step 4: Put the folded wax paper between a paper bag and lightly iron in it for a few seconds.

Step 5: Remove the wax paper, open it up and let it cool.

Step 6: Trace and cut out various size hearts.

Step 7: Punch a hole in the hearts and string them.

Step 8: Display them mobile style like we did or just hang throughout your home. They make such cute whimsical decorations.
